In the framework of the events that the Church of Cyprus is organizing during the Cyprus presidency of the European Council was organized on the 4 of December at the Bozar Museum a concert of Byzantine Music and Christmas Carols.
The twenty members of the choir of the Church of Cyprus under the conduct of the Protopresbyter f. Dimitrios Dimosthenous and Mr. Aristos Thoukidides performed firstly Christmas Hymns and afterwards with accompany of the sounds of traditional organs a variety of different Christmas carols from different regions of the Hellenism such as from Cyprus, Thraki, Aigina and Ikaria.
The event was under the auspices of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Cyprus to the European Union and the Embassy of Cyprus in Belgium. It was also supported by the Member of the European Parliament Mrs. Antigoni Papadopoulou. The event was addressed by the MEP Mrs Antigoni Papadopoulou, on behalf of the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the European Union Mr. Nikolaos Constandinidis and by His Grace Bishop Porfyrios of Neapolis.
The event was honoured with the presence of: His Eminence the Metropolitan of Belgium Mr. Panteleimon, the Archbishop of Brussels of the Patriarchate of Moscow Mr. Simon, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Achaia Mr. Athanasios, Representative of the Church of Greece to the European Union, the Protopresbyter F. Sorin Selaru from the Patriarchate of Romania, the Commissioner for Education and Culture Mrs Androulla Vasileiou, Ambassadors of many countries, other European officials and many citizens.
After the event a reception was offered to everybody.
