During the afternoon of the 29th of June 2011 his Beatitude the Archbishop of Cyprus Mr. Chrysostomos II addressed a greeting to the ceremony of the Cypriot MEP Ms. Antigone Papadopoulou which had the title songs of our souls the ceremony took place at the European Parliament. The ceremony was in two parts, the first a photograph exhibition under the general title Windows on European Cyprus, and the second one was concert one in which participated artists, Georgios Ntallaras, Margarita Zorballa, Kostas Hatzichristodoulou and the Vocal Ensemble of Diastasis from the town of Limassol.
During his salutation his Beatitude, underline the context and the importance of the photo exhibition which exposes the turbulent history of the island of Cyprus and the consequences of the continuing Turkish occupation of the northern part of it as well as the cultural creation and contribution to the European and global civilization. He called the European Union to intervene towards Turkey and to force it to stop from destroying the cultural heritage in the occupied territories, to withdraw the Turkish military forces and the settlers and to accept a fair, viable and functional solution for the Cyprus problem. To conclude he expressed that he is optimistic for a happier future in Cyprus.
Present at the successful ceremony, were the Metropolitan of Belgium Mr. Panteleimon, the Metropolitan of Achaia Mr. Athanasius, Bishop of Neapolis Mr. Porfyrios, many European officials, ambassadors, European Union s parliamentarians and many citizens.
