The first meeting of 2017 of the Governing Board of the Conference of European Churches (CEC) was held between 31 May to 03 June, in Belgrade, Serbia.
During the meeting of the G.B. the reports of CEC’s President and General Secretary, bishop Christopher Hill and fr. Heikki Huttunen respectively, were presented. The staff presented the course of the ongoing projects concerning the theological dialogue, ecclesiology, economic and ecological justice, employment, social affairs, human rights and religious freedom as well as a multi-page document on the future of the European Union.
The G.B. approved the financial reports of 2016 and approved the budget for 2017. Furthermore, the members discussed in detail the upcoming General Assembly of the organization that will take place in Novi Sad of Serbia during June 2018, and took various decisions.
On Thursday 1st of June 2017 the G.B. met with His Beatitude the Patriarch of Serbia Mr. Ireneos who expressed his joy for organizing the upcoming General Assembly in Serbia.
Finally, on Friday, June 2, the G.B. visited the city of Novi Sad and the premises of the conference center where the General Assembly will take place.
