It was held from the 1-3 June 2015 the meeting of the Central Committee of the Conference of European Churches’ (CEC), in Strasbourg of France. The reports of CEC’s President Anglican Bishop Mr. C. Hill and General Secretary Mr. G. Liagre were presented during the meeting. The members of the eight Thematic Reference Groups were elected for the period 2015 - 2018. They were also presented the programs that will be implemented in the year 2016.

The period and place of CEC’s General Assembly, which will be held in summer 2018, was also discussed and the standing orders of the General Assembly’s preparatory Committee were agreed. The financial report of 2014 was ratified as well as the new form of calculating the contribution fees of the 114 churches and organizations members of CEC. A visit to the Council of Europe was organized on the second day of the works of CEC’s CC. The officers of the Council gave a guided tour, a presentation of the work, the structure and the mission of the Council. Furthermore, a special presentation was given on the activities of the Non-Governmental organizations of the Council of Europe in which CEC participates. The areas that they focus are concerning Human Rights, Bioethics and Intercultural Dialogue.

The Central Committee issued a communiqué concerning the important topic of the migration wave of refugees from the Middle East and North Africa. The wave of refugees seems that in the up-coming future will unfortunately become even larger. A request to the institutions of the European Union was made thus they adapt a strategy in dealing this matter as well as financing actions for this purpose. In addition, EU members should accept a fairly distribution of the refuges because countries like Greece, Spain and Italy are unable to handle them on their own. His Grace Bishop Porfyrios of Neapolis represented the Church of Cyprus to the CC.
