On Wednesday afternoon the 11th of July 2012, His Beatitude the Archbishop of Albania Mr. Anastasios visited the Representation of the Church of Cyprus in Brussels and was welcomed by His Beatitude the Archbishop of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus Mr. Chrysostomos II, who informed him about the mission of the Representation of the Church of Cyprus to the European Union. A meaningful discussion and an exchange of views followed up.
His Beatitude was accompanied, apart from H.E. Metropolitan Athanasios of Achaia, Director of the Office of the Representation of the Church of Greece to the E.U. by His Grace Bishop Antonios of Kroia.
They were also present during the visit: His Grace Bishop Porfyrios of Neapolis, Director of the Representation of the Church of Cyprus to the European Institutions, Mr. Ioannis Charilaou, Director of the Central Ecclesiastical Fund as well as Cypriots and Greeks who work at the European Institutions.
The presence both, the Archbishop of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus Mr. Chrysostomos II and His Beatitude the Archbishop of Albania Mr. Anastasios in Brussels was due to an invitation by the European Commission’s President Mr. Jose Manuel Barroso for attending a meeting on the 12th July 2012 with other European Religious leaders to discuss the theme: “Intergenerational Solidarity: Setting the Parameters for Tomorrow's Society in Europe”.
